How we got here
From our son's first birthday in 2019 to Sydney's go-to affordable event hire studio. The story so far — one milestone at a time.
Where it all began
Like many parents, we wanted our son's first birthday to be special. We spent weeks searching for decorations and props that looked beautiful without costing a fortune. What we found was frustrating — affordable options often looked cheap, while premium setups were far beyond what most families could justify for a single celebration.
That experience planted a simple idea: every family deserves a memorable event without breaking the budget.
Learning, planning & building
After our son's birthday, we kept helping friends and family with their celebrations. We spent countless hours researching event styling, learning about prop hire, and understanding what people really wanted for birthdays and special occasions.
During this time, we began collecting our first decorations and experimenting with different setup styles — turning a personal interest into a growing passion.
The problem became clear
As we planned more family celebrations, the same challenge kept appearing. Hosts were forced to choose between affordability and quality. Event planning was stressful enough without having to compromise on the final look.
We realised there was room for a business that could offer stylish, affordable event props while keeping the process simple for busy families.
WestSYD Events launches
We took the leap and officially launched WestSYD Events. Starting with a small collection of props, we began servicing family, friends, and local customers across Western Sydney.
Word spread quickly through referrals, and the positive response gave us confidence that we were solving a genuine problem for local families. What started as a side project soon became a growing event hire business.
Expanding the collection
As demand increased, so did our inventory. We added new backdrops, plinths, neon signs, balloon styling options, and themed decorations based on what customers were requesting most.
Every new purchase was carefully selected to help customers create professional-looking events without professional-sized budgets. Each successful event helped us learn, improve, and grow.
Hundreds of celebrations later
By 2024, WestSYD Events had become a trusted name for affordable event styling across Sydney. We expanded our range to include shimmer walls, marquee numbers, florals, statement props, and complete event packages.
More importantly, we had the privilege of helping hundreds of families celebrate birthdays, baby showers, engagements, corporate events, and community gatherings. Seeing customers create lasting memories became the most rewarding part of the journey.
Introducing HnK Party
As the business evolved, we wanted a brand that better reflected our vision for the future. WestSYD Events was reintroduced as HnK Party — bringing a fresh identity, a modern website, and a stronger focus on helping customers plan beautiful events with ease.
While the name changed, our mission remained the same: affordable, stylish event hire backed by genuine customer support.
